Band camp & Sec 1 Swearing-in’s on Monday! It’s going to be a really fun time of bonding
Anyway, here are some things to take note:

1) Packing List

• PE T-shirt and shorts (1 set, 2 sets if you do not have section tee)
• Additional PE shorts (2) – NO FBTs
• Section tee (if you have)
• Band tee (Sec 1s bring PE T-shirt)
• Undergarments (3 sets recommended)
• Toiletries (towel, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.)
• Sleeping bag
• Ice cream tub (scoop water to bathe)
• 2 pairs of socks
• Slippers/sandals
• Plastic bags (to put worn clothes in)
• Torchlight (compulsory)
• Water bottle
• Cash (not too much)
• Necessary medication

2) Consent Form

-You have to hand in the consent form to Jiaii before the camp commences, or during/after berato.
-Sec 3s (HCL), I suppose y’all don’t have the consent form, so please print it out.
-If for any reasons you’re unable to print it out, please get your parents to write a letter to state that they approve of you attending the camp.
*For those leaving early/coming late, please make a note at the bottom of the consent form.

Please remember to pack all the necessary and be punctual on Monday. I’m sure we’ll have a great time together as a band! :>

Here’re another concert that you might want to attend!

It is performed by the Crescent Girls’ School Concert band, which attained a gold award for this year’s SYF, held at their school’s auditorium.

It is on the 25th November (Fri), starting at 7:30pm and it would end at about 9:30pm, tickets are priced at $7 each. Do try to attend more concerts now that the exams are over (: and please let me know if you’re interested by the 5 of November.

These are the dates & timings for the holiday band practices.
Consent forms will be give out later.

1) 1 November (Tues): 3.45pm-6.30pm

2) 3 November (Thurs): 8am-11am

3) 8 November (Tues): 10am-1pm

4) 27 December (Tues) : 1pm-4pm

5) 29 December (Thurs): 1pm-4pm

*Please take note that berato is 15mins before band prac starts.
(Sec 3s taking ‘O’ Level Chinese will probably be exempted from the practices in November – which will have to be reconfirmed again)

There will be band on 24 October (Monday), from 3pm-6pm.
Yellows & Reds, you will have to come to school in school uniform by 2.45pm (for berato).
However, there will be no band on 27 and 28 October.

For Ms Chan’s Farewell performance, there is a rehearsal on Tuesday after school, timing will be confirmed again on Monday. Attire for Thursday is most probably school uniform. (Applicable to Greys & Reds only). Please also be reminded to move quickly as we took relatively long today.
Yellows do not need to learn the lyrics for Aud Lang Syne anymore as we’re not playing it.

Lastly, band camp is from 14 November, 9am, to 15 November, 12pm. Sorry for the change in the dates.

This is another concert that you guys can attend. It is highly recommended for everyone  to attend more concerts, so as to improve in our playing and to be able to learn from other bands!

This concert is performed by the St Patrick’s School Military Band, and the tickets cost $12. It will be held at the Singapore Conference Hall, free seating.

Date: 2nd December 2011, Friday
Time: 7.30p to 10.30pm

Please let Dawn and myself know if you want to come, latest next Monday. Thanks and let’s make the performance for Ms Chan a memorable one! We can do it! (:

Just a short post, but all the best for EOYs! You guys have been working so hard, so I know that you’ll do extremely well. (:

Remember to take care of your health as well and sleep early during this exam period!

The rules are updated already.

Please take some time to read through it carefully and remember not to break the rules again!
I’m making it clear now and I really hope that everyone would try to follow the rules even if you think they’re unnecessary, etc. but rules are always there for a reason.
Also, I hope y’all would understand why we conducted the punishment session yesterday, and reflect on your mistakes.
I apologise that EXCO was disorganised throughout the whole session, and if you have any commends or remarks about the session yesterday, you can look for any of the EXCO members.

If you brought home your instruments, message Zoe or Marianne your name, section, instrument brand, and serial number.

*(SLs, please tell me if you would like to conduct extra sectionals.)

I understand that most of you have muscle aches from yesterday and other side effects, please do drink lots of water and take care of yourselves.
We’ll be having lots of events coming up after EOYs: band camp, Sec Ones Swearing-in, etc
For now, remember to practice in the midst of all the studying!
Band resumes on the 17th of October.

We will be helping you order band Blouse, Blazer and Skirt,
however band shoes and socks are to be bought by individual band members at BATA outlets.

Band shoes: Either 16 or 26 bucks i forgot XP

Band socks: $2.50

In case you don’t know how they look like, the band shoes is made of leather and black in colour. It has a smiley face at the back heel while the socks is white in colour but GREY at the base.

Those who were absent on Friday or wish to try on the uniforms
again, come and find me earlier/after band prac when CCA ressumes
after End-of-Years. Please understand and note that because there are
a limited amount of uniforms sold by the whites and for rent, the
renting and buying from the whites is based on first come first
serve. So hurry tell me kay!

Oh yeah, regarding the band shoes right, if you don’t want to buy
from BATA, you can try asking your seniors who have passed out if
they are willing to sell you their band shoes. I’m sure they won’t mind and it’ll be cheaper :p Teehee. Of cos their shoe size must fit you also kay! Then for the blouse, please take your PE shirt size. Although the school’s PE shirt and band blouse are supposedly the same size number, the band blouse is actually a little bit bigger incomparison to the school’s PE shirt, since most of us who bought the blouse already find it quite big. Hence, you might either want to buy the same size as your current t-shirt or bigger since it will last until Sec 4, you decide yourself(: Also, don’t forget that your blazer and skirt should not be tight or just nice and there should be allowance when u lift up your hands in position as if you’re playing your instru cos you’ll definitely grow from now till sec 4! Hey Band!

For those going for the leadership/instrumental workshops, SLs are in Group B. The workshops will start at 9am and end at 4.30pm. Apologies to Sarah and Evangeline from Reds because they made an error in your groupings, so they’ll get back to both of you soon. But your workshop is from 9am to 1.30pm.

Anyway, there’s an upcoming concert that you might be interested to attend. Mr Satoshi Yagisawa would be conducting the Singapore Wind Symphony, showcasing his latest works such as “Memories of Friendship” and “Singapore Flyer”. It will be the first public performance conducted by the composer himself.

In addition, one of the most sought-after adjudicator and clinician worldwide, Professor Toru Miura, from one of Japan’s leading music conservatoire, Kunitachi College of Music, will be conducting for the very first time in Singapore featuring classic to contemporary modern works reflecting the everyday life and emotions of people around us.
